Out Of The Lair started in 1995 in Thessaloniki, under the name of Wolverine. "Psychotears" is however their first (self-financed) full-length album, now in 2006 released worldwide by Deadsun Records.
They play classic heavy metal with some progressive influences. Lots of melody in the mid-tempo to fast songs, esp. in the fabulous guitar work by Spyros and Dim. No wanking stuff, just very cool solos, all in service of the songs. Spyros' voice has a pretty typical true metal voice: a little rough around the edges, but with a lot of passion and he can go low (sometimes) or high (often) without any problems too. On "Psychotears" and "Out Of The Lair", Rotting Christ singer Sakis Tolis joins him.
Highlights are the great intro "Intronoise-X", "Nosferatu", "Wolverine's Knights" and "Psychotears". The production is not very complex, but it's clear and it suits the style just fine. Recommended for every one who still loves some pure, passionate, 80s style heavy metal, with some great guitar action!
