-How difficult was it to record this album?

Hi. Recording an album in Greece for a metal band is not that easy. It took a lot of time, money, thinking and sweat. The recording started in January of 2003 and the mix and mastering was finished in the end of the summer.

-What is the basic concept or general idea of the lyrics?

There is no concept in the lyrics. The lyrics that were written by me are talking about social matters and the humanity, except the lyrics of "Vampire Lady" and "Nosferatu" that were written by our x-guitarist John Ayub that are fictional.

-Did you seek to "insert" more complicated vocal melodies and guitar melodies in your songs?

The vocals and the guitars are already complicated, aren't they? We're always in the mood of experimenting. We write and play songs based on heavy metal music, which we like, no matter how this may sound.

-Wasn't this a reason to make the album harder for the listener to like?

Some parts of the songs may be hard for an easy song listener to listen to. But all the songs despite their complexity have many tunes that stuck in people’s brain.

-Do you believe that this fact promotes a progressive element for "Out of the lair" or did you just decide not to follow a basic power metal path?

The fact is that we’re a bit progressive, a bit aggressive, a bit speedy, thrashy, a bit of everything. Many people think of us as a power metal band, but we think of ourselves as a heavy metal band.

-How encouraging where your attendances as support groups to greater bands?

Playing with well known bands from abroad was something that helped us a lot, to get to know how to perform live and we gained a lot of experience from those gigs. We get to know people that worked professionally and talk with them about music. Also those gigs were a good chance for the band to present its songs in a large crowd.
-Do you believe there was any kind of support from other Greek bands? Tell me about the kind of support.
There have been friendships with bands from Greece, indeed. The support is mainly in live performing in other cities than Thessaloniki, which is our base city and promoting each other music.

-Did you receive positive reviews?

We have received many positive reviews about our live performing and about our debut cd “Psychotears”. The reviews are from many countries. Most of them are online on our official website at: www.outofthelair.com

-Is there a way for Greek underground to proceed and stand tall in the following years and how do you believe this could be done?

Greek underground bands are getting more and more everyday. Most of the bands nowadays are playing a lot better than did many bands in the past and there have the technology to make them sound better too. It’s a fact that too many music events take place in Greece lately. So it’s in the hand of people to support the bands and make them get better and more known.
Thanks for the interview and all the support. We would like to thank all Forever Underground readers too, that support the Greek bands.
